Wanna hear somethin' weird? I do not have television. Whew!
That's an icebreaker.
Seriously. I have a television set, but I leave all the TV stuff I can't live without to Youtube for three reasons: 1. No commercials. 2. All temptation to be a couch potato and lose brain cells over wasteful TV melodrama is gone and 3. No cable bill.
Face it, if you thought about it, you could do it too. I like to think I'm an intense "media" consumer, but I've been without TV for 4 years now. The beauty is that I don't even have to use other websites like ABC or CNN to get my missed shows and news, because I can view it all on Youtube and it's easier. Not to mention, I can save all my videos and watch re-runs of them later. Some may view it as a hassle, because you may have to watch (longer than 10 minute programs) in separate clips, but whatever... patience is a virtue.
I have seen old movies, documentaries, biographies, speeches, music videos, famous old news packages, original music/video compilations, instruction videos, etc. on Youtube and while some suck, the majority are pretty cool and if nothing else... you will laugh your ass off!
If you haven't checked out Youtube or if you have and haven't seen these videos, then check 'em out. Here are some I've enjoyed:
1. Remember 1963? Young or old it doesn't matter.
2. Les Miserables.
3. Al Pacino.
4. Miss South Carolina answers question WRONG.
5. Guitar Hero.
6. Dane Cook Skit.

Can I have your attention PLEASSSE?
So I was sitting in my room the other night, with my feet kicked up on my desk, just thinking about what the hell I was going to blog about... the house was quiet and it was pretty late, so I was in the "zone" to pull my thoughts together and decide.
Chirp. Chirp. "I got nothin'," I said to myself.
I have to find something interesting, that will spark the attention of others and also not bore me to death in the wee hours of the morning (which is when I usually perform my student duties and begin my overly procrastinated work.) But, all I could think about was how the bright fluorescent light situated in the corner of my room was giving me a headache and really didn't feel like getting up to shut it off. But, I did and in doing so shook off the crazy, self-inflected pressure of choosing a blog. And as many idle 21-year-olds do (or at least the ones I know) with no drink in-hand, grabbed my headphones and reached for my laptop.
Music? Movie? No... homework. Grrr... It was as if Morpheus was staring into my eyes asking me to choose: blue pill or red pill. But, in this case the blue pill was homework and the red pill the temptation of doing something a lot more appealing than books and essays. But, no ones perfect...
I plopped on my bed and start rattling away. As usual, I minimized my email and brought up Youtube, found my play-list and pushed PLAY. Then it struck me!
Youtube. What an amazing thing. I guess I am what you call an avid user, maybe a Youtube feine, quite possible an addict, but let's be honest, who isin't?!?!? If each person had their fav five Internet sites like T-Mobile users, Youtube would definitely be there!
Now, I don't want to generalize, but everyone knows about Youtube, even if you haven't navigated the website or made an account you have heard about it in one medium or another... and if you really haven't then I will laugh at you. Just kidding, not really... anyways, check out the site and play around.
It's a fun and educational resource, although it is uncensored, so for those not specifically looking for porn or x-rated "stuff" beware. Anyways, just let me know what your "fav videos" are... and share your thoughts, feelings, etc. with me. If you have uploaded videos, let me know and I will do the same for you. We all like different things, but we all become more knowledgeable the more we experience. So, for now...
More about you. Less about me. Let's talk about this! Do you "YOUTUBE?"
